A morning at IESEG: when AI helps students revise from M1 Digital Marketing

As Complement's co -founder, I am always enthusiastic about seeing our tool come to life in the hands of users. Last week, I was able to come on site for the launch of a revision module at the IESEG School of Management, with students of the Master 1 Digital Marketing.

The adventure began with Lana Mulier, marketing teacher, eager to offer an interactive revision experience to her 95 students for her digital content lesson. She prepared a revision module on our platform, by selecting the key slides from her course supports, then transforming her PowerPoint into interactive content with quizs and exchanges with a conversational Avatar. Less than two hours were enough for her to put a complete, purified revision module online, centered on the concepts to be controlled for the examination.

On D -Day, I went on site in class to accompany students during their last morning of lessons. After a brief presentation of Complement and the experiment, the students connected to the platform. This was initially planned as a simple revision while waiting for the group work orals, but it turned into a real immersion in our tool for students. They found themselves answering questions and situation orally, having to explain the different concepts seen in class, to listen to the explanations and definitions, provided by the AI avatar.

Rich and instructive feedback

What made this morning special was to see the students taking part in the game. Our dashboard has literally exploded with:

  • 120 Questions asked directly to the avatar, on concepts of misunderstood courses in particular, and "curiosity" questions on points related to the course
  • 65 hours of cumulative lessons on the platform in one morning
  • 94 Suggestions for improvement, which have already given birth to 15 "Stories" in our Roadmap 2025.
  • 367 Answers to the 4 open questions "give your opinion on the module and the solution".

But beyond the figures, it was the words of the students who touched me the most. They were able to give their opinion on the tool to the Avatar, and many came to see me directly to tell me what it had brought them at the end of the morning.

Their words, our motivation

The returns were massively positive: 93.5 % of students expressed a positive appreciation of the experience, and none had an overall negative feeling. When asked if they could take a full course on our application, 71.4 % replied "yes".

But it was the detailed comments that resonated the most. A student shared: " I really like this interactive format because it forces us to stay focused on the course. Also it does not feel like you are in class but rather in a discussion on current subjects which is great for learning. "Another pointed out:" I largely prefer this format [to videos] because the personalization of the avatar allows it to shape it in the way that best allows me to succeed in following the course, we have open questions to which to think about revising and for which we have the corrections and we can ask questions. »»

What came out is the interactive and personalized aspect of our solution. Students appreciated being able to ask questions, get instant answers and feel that the avatar adapted to their needs. As a student said so well: “ It issurprisingly  »»

We also saw them all choose an avatar from the 4 available, choose a personality that sticks to their needs, and adjust the speed of the voice - generally to X1.5 or X2. Another notable point, they keep the menu on the application, containing the transcription of the conversation, unfolded, to be able to reread what has just been said when they lost a few seconds.

What now?

At the end of this morning, students always had access to the platform, and many of them finished the revision module afterwards. This experiment was a real success, as much for the students who arrived “better armed” on the exam, as for the teacher who was looking for a “fun” means of refreshing their memory, and simple to set up. We are now discussing with other teachers in the marketing sector, to set up the solution in a lasting way for other subjects at the start of the school year in September.

I got out of this morning at the Ieseg with the feeling that Complement provides a real plus to users, whether it is for reverse class, revisions, or a 100% online course. To hear a foreign student in difficulty, say to me "Thank you really for what you do, can we have review modules in other subjects before exams?" is an invaluable reward. This reminds me why we created Complement: to make e-learning more interactive, more personalized and, above all, more human.
