Press release: Complement raises €660,000

Complement raises €660,000 to deploy its AI-powered virtual trainer and support the transformation of training practices

Paris, March 5, 2026 – As organizations and institutions rethink their knowledge transfer methods in the face of the rise of artificial intelligence, Complement announces a €660,000 fundraising round from business angels and a strategic investor, IÉSEG School of Management. This round is complemented by non-dilutive financing, bringing the total resources raised to over €1 million.

Founded in 2024 by Gabriel du Chalard de Taveau (a 2017 graduate of IÉSEG), Coline Thérial, and Tristan de Bermingham, Complement is developing a new type of training platform based on video calls with interactive AI avatars. Its promise: to offer, on a large scale, an experience equivalent to that of a private tutor, capable of explaining, engaging in dialogue, assessing, and adapting in real time to each learner's level.

A tangible impact for learners and organizations

Unlike traditional e-learning platforms and passive learning content, Complement allows designers to transform existing materials (PDFs, presentations, expert content) into interactive oral training sessions led by a virtual AI instructor. Learners can freely ask questions, delve deeper into complex concepts, be actively assessed, and receive personalized feedback at any time, just as if they were interacting with a human expert in the subject matter.

For trainers and instructional designers, the platform offers significant time savings and access to new data: poorly understood concepts, recurring questions, and points of friction. This insight allows them to optimize content, improve training effectiveness, and refocus human intervention on high-value moments.

The platform is designed for both companies - in contexts of internal training, onboarding or skills development - and for higher education institutions wishing to modernize their teaching methods.

A strategic partnership that marks a deliberate pedagogical shift

IÉSEG's investment in Complement represents a strategic turning point for both the start-up and the school.

Following a collaborative effort from the earliest stages of product development, this partnership reflects IÉSEG's commitment to evolving its teaching methods and fully embracing the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence, with hybrid formats combining in-person instruction, flipped classrooms, and personalized AI-powered support. The school will thus provide unlimited access to Complement to 5,000 students.

The School will also play the role of a laboratory for educational innovation, mobilizing teachers, experts and learners to fuel the continuous improvement of the platform.

“IÉSEG’s investment in Complement is fully aligned with our commitment to integrating artificial intelligence to enhance learning and educational transformation. Our AI strategy, designed to strengthen the quality of the student experience, complements the ambition of our “Becoming” educational approach: supporting each learner in their academic and personal development by focusing on hybrid, customized formats and human-centered pedagogy. With Complement, we are paving the way for more interactive, individualized, and innovative training, while placing the educational relationship—both human and digital—at the heart of our mission.”

Technological and commercial acceleration

Thanks to this fundraising, Complement will strengthen its technical and commercial teams, continue the development of its proprietary AI technology, launch a mobile version designed for everyday use, and industrialize B2B deployments.

The vision remains the same: to develop a virtual trainer that can equal a human, and to allow any subject matter expert or teacher to create an online course simply and quickly.

The company currently has around ten active clients and is experiencing sustained growth. Complement recently won the Microsoft GenAI and Wilco programs and is supported by Réseau Entreprendre.

“This funding round marks a turning point: it shows that organizations are ready to evolve their teaching models to leverage AI. With Complement, we are moving from fixed content to a genuine educational dialogue, tailored to individual needs. And the result is a format that learners truly appreciate.”

 — Gabriel du Chalard de Taveau, CEO and co-founder of Complement
